BN, PH close to finalizing seat deal for Sabah election

Coalition partners negotiating seat distribution for Sabah's upcoming assembly vote have completed roughly 70 percent of their discussions, according to the state chairman of Barisan Nasional. Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin said on Sunday that his alliance and Pakatan Harapan must resolve remaining disagreements before publicly announcing their arrangement for the 17th state election.

Several constituencies require additional talks between the two groups, Bung Moktar told reporters after a community program. He expects to meet with party leaders on November 3 or 4 to settle outstanding issues. The delay stems from both coalitions seeking to field candidates in overlapping areas, he explained.

Barisan Nasional will reduce its electoral footprint from earlier plans to compete in 48 districts, Bung Moktar confirmed. Candidates must register on November 15, with voters heading to polling stations on November 29 to choose representatives for the state legislature.
