BNP officials collected candidate nomination forms for the upcoming parliamentary election for their party leaders, Khaleda Zia and Tarique Rahman. The forms were for the Bogura-7 and Bogura-6 constituencies, respectively, with the voting scheduled for early next year. A former lawmaker named Helaluzzaman Talukder Lalu, serving as an election coordinator, got the form for Khaleda Zia from an election office on Gohail Road. He mentioned her previous consecutive wins from that area and expressed a goal to secure her another victory with a large margin of votes.
For Tarique Rahman's nomination in Bogura-6, the local BNP district president, Rezaul Karim Badsha, collected the form along with other senior leaders. They obtained it from the Returning Officer, Deputy Commissioner Md Toufikur Rahman. Badsha told reporters that even if Tarique Rahman returns to the country as suggested, local leaders would likely submit the paperwork on his behalf. He added that Rahman would participate in campaign activities in Bogura after his return.
