BNP's Rizvi rips India over Yunus demon idol stunt

Bangladesh Nationalist Party Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi criticized India on Saturday for creating a demon idol resembling Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus at Durga Puja celebrations. Rizvi stated the depiction demonstrated poor cultural judgment from a nation recognized for artistic achievement. He emphasized that Bangladeshis of all faiths united to protect religious festivals and reject attempts at communal division.

The BNP leader warned that supporters of an Islamist party have secured key administrative roles ahead of the February elections. He demanded that the interim government appoint neutral officials to ensure fair voting. Rizvi accused international powers of conspiring against nationalist movements in Bangladesh, but expressed confidence that citizens would resist authoritarian governance.
