Bob Dylan will release a new art book this fall featuring his recent drawings. Simon & Schuster plans to publish Point Blank Quick Studies on November 18. The large format book contains about 100 sketches Dylan created during 2021 and 2022. Three writers contributed short written pieces to accompany the artwork.
Some drawings served as preparation work for paintings currently displayed at Halcyon Gallery. The London exhibition runs through July 6 under the same Point Blank name. Publisher Sean Manning praised Dylan's storytelling abilities through visual art. Manning described the images as both innocent and experienced, happy and sad at the same time.
Dylan earned the Nobel Prize for Literature back in 2016. His book The Philosophy of Modern Song became a bestseller last year despite problems with fake signatures. The publisher had advertised hand-signed copies that actually contained printed autographs rather than real ones.
Simon & Schuster will also release an audio version of Chronicles Volume One on the same November date. Actor Sean Penn will read the entire 2004 memoir for the unabridged recording. Dylan recently provided narration for a promotional video advertising Machine Gun Kelly's latest music album.
The musician continues expanding his creative work beyond songwriting and performing. His visual art has gained attention from galleries and collectors worldwide. The upcoming book represents another way Dylan shares his artistic vision with fans and art enthusiasts.
