Bolt Responds to Alleged Kidnapping of Simthande Myeza

Bolt has spoken out after South African entertainer Simthande Myeza was allegedly kidnapped during a ride through their service. The e-hailing company expressed sadness about the incident and promised to work with police on the investigation.

Myeza was traveling in a Bolt car around Umbilo in Durban when things went wrong on Tuesday. His family says the driver took a strange route and refused to turn around when asked. Two men suddenly appeared and forced their way into the vehicle.

The attackers blindfolded Myeza and tied up his hands before taking him to a secret location. They accessed his phone and emptied his bank accounts completely. The criminals also demanded money from his family and friends as ransom payment.

The kidnappers filmed themselves doing terrible things to Myeza and warned him not to tell police what happened. They threatened serious consequences if he reported the crime to authorities. Myeza has since been found safe and reunited with his loved ones.

Bolt reminded users about their safety features like driver checks and emergency buttons inside the app. The company encourages passengers to share trip information with trusted people they know. This case reminds people of another similar kidnapping that happened in Nairobi during 2023 involving two women and a Bolt driver.
