Budget 2026 criticized for lack of reforms, slow growth

Former legislator Mehmed Dikme warned that Bulgaria's 2026 budget framework will trigger slower economic expansion and rising joblessness, contradicting employer associations and other critics who opposed the fiscal plan. Speaking on bTV, Dikme argued the spending blueprint should have retained negotiating room rather than allocating funds without corresponding structural reforms.

The ex-parliamentarian praised the Movement for Rights and Freedoms for securing municipal financing through targeted demands. He predicted Ahmed Dogan's nascent political formation would fail, suggesting its creation primarily aims to counter Delyan Peevski rather than pursue substantive policy objectives.
