Bulawayo Blaze Wipes Out 200 SMEs Overnight

Fire destroyed business equipment belonging to more than 200 small companies at Save The Nation Industrial Site Monday night. The flames wiped out machinery and goods that entrepreneurs had built up over many years. Business owners lost their main source of money and asked government officials for emergency help. Many people depend on these small enterprises for daily survival and economic support.

One entrepreneur told ZBC News that workers had spent over 10 years creating their workspace and buying expensive machinery. The fire erased everything they had worked to achieve during the past decade. Another business operator pleaded for assistance from government leaders and private partners willing to help rebuild. The devastating fire left hundreds of people without jobs or income sources.

Bulawayo Chamber of SMEs Programme Coordinator Nketha Dlamini confirmed the incident occurred under mysterious circumstances. Officials still calculate the total cost of damage before approaching stakeholders for financial assistance. The chamber expressed sympathy for affected businesses and promised to seek help from various organizations. Small and medium enterprises employ over half of Zimbabwe workers and drive economic growth. These businesses play crucial roles helping the country develop modern industries and create new innovations.
