Kano Team Wipes Out in Bus Plunge

Several Kano state sports team members died after their vehicle crashed on the way home from Ogun state competitions. The bus carrying 35 passengers fell off a bridge at Kura local government area during their return trip. Ado Salisu Gama survived the crash and spoke about what happened from his hospital bed. He reported that 22 people lost their lives at Dakatsalle bridge just before reaching Kura town. The driver also died during the accident that shocked the sports community.

Emergency workers rushed injured passengers to Kura General Hospital for medical treatment. One additional team member passed away at the hospital after the rescue operation. Gama said doctors continue caring for other survivors who suffered injuries from the crash. The victims came from different parts of the delegation that represented Kano state. Athletes, reporters, medical staff and organizers all traveled together on the same vehicle.

The sports team had performed well during the National Sports Festival held at Ogun state. Officials confirmed the group earned 29 medals during various competitions before starting their journey home. Details about the exact cause of the bridge accident remain under investigation. Rescue teams continue working to help survivors recover from their injuries.
