Sabah reels as Hajiji Noor scrambles to fix massive blackout after landslide wipes out tower

Sabah Chief Minister Hajiji Noor held an urgent conference at Sri Gaya to tackle the electrical crisis hitting the state's eastern coastline. State Secretary Safar Untong and National Security Council director Yahya Sulaiman joined the emergency session. Sabah Electricity's chief operating officer, Mohd Yusmanizam Mohd Yusof, served as crisis commander while briefing officials about restoration progress. A landslide destroyed the Kolopis-Segaliud 275kV transmission tower in Kampung Kolopis, Penampang, causing widespread blackouts. Weather conditions will determine whether repair teams can restore electricity within 48 hours.

The Chief Minister emphasized safety during dangerous reconstruction work while demanding swift action. Mohd Yusmanizam leads specialized crews working to rebuild the damaged power infrastructure. Officials activated emergency response protocols after the transmission line failed yesterday. Hajiji ordered continuous public communication about repair developments. Severe weather patterns continue threatening the affected regions where restoration efforts proceed under hazardous conditions.
