Bulawayo Machete Gang Terrorizes Night Walkers

Three men went to the hospital after attackers cut them with large knives in Bulawayo. Police said armed gangs hurt people walking home Wednesday evening around 6:45 PM. The criminals used machetes and hammers to attack victims near Amakhosi grounds and Apollo shops. Officers believe these gangs work at illegal gold mines outside the city. The violent crimes have become common across Bulawayo recently.

The attackers first hurt a 52-year-old man on a walking path. They hit his head with a machete and stole his phone, twenty dollars, and wallet. About an hour later the same criminals attacked a 40-year-old man near Apollo shops. He blocked their machete strike but hurt both hands when they tried cutting his head. The gang stole his phone, seventy dollars, and clothes worth two hundred dollars total.

A 38-year-old man from Gwabalanda became their third victim that night. The attackers struck his head three times with a machete and hit his forehead with a hammer. They took his Samsung phone, one hundred dollars, and a yellow bag full of clothes. All three victims walked to Apollo shopping center where ambulances brought them to Mpilo Hospital. Police said criminals stole items worth five hundred seventy dollars total.
