Violent Armed Robberies Target Mt Darwin Bank and Bulawayo Mine

Armed criminals struck three locations across Zimbabwe during recent days. Police confirmed major robberies occurred at banks and mines. Officials launched investigations after thieves stole hundreds of thousands of dollars. Communities expressed shock over the violent crimes. Security concerns have grown throughout the country.

Three gunmen attacked a bank at Mt Darwin during early Wednesday morning hours. The robbers assaulted a security guard before breaking inside. They opened a safe and escaped with 700,000 dollars and gold weighing 2.4 kilograms. Police collected evidence from security cameras at the crime scene. No arrests have happened for this case.

Another group of three criminals targeted Old Nic Mine near Bulawayo on Tuesday. The gang hurt three people before entering mine offices. They stole 520,000 dollars and two mobile phones from the building. Authorities began tracking the suspects immediately after the attack. The investigation continues at that location.

Police arrested Providence Shumba after a third robbery at Chitungwiza. The 32-year-old man threatened workers at an Ecocash shop with a knife. He took 180 dollars, airtime cards worth 1,000 dollars and two phones. Officers recovered most stolen items during the arrest. Shumba faces court charges for the Wednesday night crime.

Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi asked citizens to help solve these cases. Police need information about the Mt Darwin and Bulawayo robberies. Anyone with details should contact local police stations. The crimes raised questions about security at financial businesses. Officials promised to catch all suspects responsible for the attacks.
