A Bulawayo court sentenced Godfrey Ndlovu to eight years' imprisonment for killing his wife during a domestic dispute. The 38-year-old man pleaded guilty to culpable homicide after fatally injuring Chelesani Ndlovu in September 2021. Justice Naison Chivayo suspended three years of the sentence, conditional on good behavior. The effective prison term remains five years.
The fatal incident occurred at Sidojiwe Flats when both spouses consumed alcohol and argued violently. Ndlovu pushed his 23-year-old wife against a wall, causing severe head trauma. Neighbors discovered Chelesani unconscious in a blood pool outside their apartment. Medical examination revealed she died from cranial injuries and subdural bleeding. Ndlovu fled the scene and evaded authorities for more than two years until police arrested him at a Tsholotsho shop.
