Bulawayo to Target Investors in Harare with Khumbul'ekhaya Conference

Bulawayo City Council plans to host an investment conference next month targeting business people who left the city for Zimbabwe's capital. The event takes place July 30, 2025 and carries the name Khumbul'ekhaya Investment Conference. Officials want to attract former Bulawayo residents who moved to Harare along with other potential investors. The conference aims to rebuild connections between these entrepreneurs and their hometown. Council leaders hope the gathering will spark new economic activity for Zimbabwe's second largest city.

Bulawayo has struggled with economic problems that forced many talented professionals to relocate elsewhere. The city once served as Zimbabwe's main industrial center but lost businesses and workers over recent years. Many successful entrepreneurs from Bulawayo established operations in Harare and other locations. Conference organizers believe these displaced business leaders have lost touch with opportunities back home. The July meeting should help restore those important relationships.

Council officials chose Harare as the venue to reach the largest number of former Bulawayo residents. The capital city houses many professionals who grew up in Bulawayo but moved away for better prospects. Future conferences may take place in Bulawayo itself or other locations where former residents live. Organizers also consider adding virtual attendance options for people who cannot travel. The event represents part of a broader strategy to revive Bulawayo's economy through targeted investment promotion.
