Bulawayo City Council has cautioned residents against proceeding with building projects without obtaining proper authorization from municipal authorities. Acting town clerk Tennyson Mpunzi stated that construction plans must receive local government approval before work commences, as mandated by chapter regulations within Zimbabwe's Model Building standards.
The directive follows amendments to architectural licensing requirements that specify that only professionals registered with the Architects Council of Zimbabwe may prepare construction documentation. Mpunzi urged property developers and residents to confirm the credentials of individuals or firms drafting their building plans before submitting applications to council offices for review and clearance.
