CAF Doubles WAFCON Prize Money to USD 1 Million for 2024 Winner

African football bosses just made women players much richer. The Confederation of African Football doubled the top prize for their biggest female tournament. Champions will take home one million dollars when the Morocco competition ends. That amount represents twice what winners received during the previous event. The total money pot grew by almost half to reach 3.475 million dollars.

CAF President Patrice Motsepe wants African women's soccer to keep growing stronger. He believes the extra cash will help female athletes earn better wages. Coaches and other staff members should also see their paychecks improve. The organization remains committed to developing the women's game across the continent. More investment means better opportunities for everyone involved.

Motsepe pointed out that female football keeps getting better each year. More fans tune into matches than ever before. The upcoming Morocco tournament should break viewership records. These positive trends show African soccer has a bright future ahead. Women's teams continue attracting new supporters from around the world.

The prize money boost sends a clear message about priorities. CAF leaders recognize that female players deserve fair compensation. Better pay attracts top talent and raises competition levels. The increased funding demonstrates serious commitment to gender equality. African football officials want their women's tournaments to rival any global competition.
