Cameroon gambles on GPT Cameroon as Libom Li Likeng vows AI dominance

Cameroon just made history with its brand new artificial intelligence game plan. Minister Minette Libom Li Likeng showed off the country's first National AI Strategy during a major tech conference. The bold plan aims to turn Cameroon into Africa's top AI powerhouse before 2040 hits. Government officials want to transform how people work and live through smart computer technology. The strategy covers everything from government operations to schools and hospitals.

The ambitious roadmap features seven main areas that will reshape the nation. Leaders plan to build a special AI Authority and create new laws for robot ethics. They want to collect massive amounts of data and digitize all government services. The country will develop its very own chatbot called GPT Cameroon that speaks local languages. Solar-powered computer centers will pop up across all 15 regions to keep the AI systems running.

Education takes center stage as officials promise to train 4,000 people every year. Five brand new AI research centers will open their doors to boost innovation. The government hopes to lure back talented citizens living abroad to help build the tech revolution. Startups will receive support to create AI solutions for farming, healthcare, and justice systems. Central African countries will team up to share AI knowledge and tools.

Government number crunchers predict the strategy will create 12,000 new jobs. The AI boom could pump an extra 1.2 percent into the country's economic output. Officials believe smart technology will improve public services and industrial growth across the board.
