Campaigning stops tonight, poll prep begins tomorrow

Uganda is basically putting the political noise on mute before the big vote. Simon Byabakama, the head of the Uganda Electoral Commission, ordered a total stop to all rallies and loud music. This boss in Kampala says candidates need to stop hunting for votes, and they should start planning for the big day instead.

Regarding the media, radio ads have to shut down, while public rallies are already finished. The officials want the well-planned period before voting to stay quiet, which lets teams handle their internal business. Every politician must follow these rules, or they might face penalties enforced through the law.

People cannot show up to vote decked out in party colors, or they might get turned away for carrying pictures. Byabakama wants the polling spots to stay neutral because pressure from the crowd ruins the vibe. No branded shirts or posters are allowed near the ballot boxes.

For those needing assistance, special rules exist for marking their papers. A person can bring a friend to assist them, but that helper only gets to help one voter, following the one-person limit. This move keeps things fair, and it stops anyone from taking over the process.

The authorities are calling on the police and the public, asking them to play nice. They want a smooth process where everyone follows the guidelines without causing a scene. The focus remains on keeping the integrity of the vote solid for the whole nation.
