At least sixteen people died, and fourteen more are missing after a canoe overloaded with around forty passengers overturned on the water between Garbi village in Yobe State and Adiyani village in Guri Local Government Area of Jigawa State. Police spokesperson Lawan Shiisu Adam confirmed the Saturday evening incident, noting ten people were rescued from the water.
