Bangladesh's top election official announced substantial progress on parliamentary election arrangements during weekend discussions with civic leaders. Election Commissioner A M M Nasir Uddin reported completing voter registration updates through household surveys while narrowing voting disparities between men and women. Officials have finished testing digital absentee ballots and plan amendments to nine electoral statutes.
The commission will grant ballot access to approximately one million election staff members who previously could not participate.
