CEC flaunts new voter list, IT ballots, eyes praise

Bangladesh's top election official announced substantial progress on parliamentary election arrangements during weekend discussions with civic leaders. Election Commissioner A M M Nasir Uddin reported completing voter registration updates through household surveys while narrowing voting disparities between men and women. Officials have finished testing digital absentee ballots and plan amendments to nine electoral statutes.

The commission will grant ballot access to approximately one million election staff members who previously could not participate. Detained individuals will also receive voting opportunities under the new framework. Nasir Uddin addressed representatives from academic institutions, civil groups and policy organizations during Sunday's consultation session.

The electoral authority scheduled additional meetings throughout October with political organizations, media representatives, monitoring groups and other community leaders. Commission members emphasized their commitment to conducting transparent and accessible voting procedures for the February contest.
