Chakma vows no mercy for CHT rapists, thugs

CHT Affairs Adviser Supradip Chakma declared zero tolerance for criminal activities across the hill districts during a Sunday meeting. Authorities will prosecute rapists, those committing violence against women, armed groups and extortionists under existing laws. The Khagrachhari Deputy Commissioner hosted the discussion following a recent student assault that created regional tensions.

Government officials and public representatives must implement effective strategies to prevent future communal disputes between communities. Chakma demanded justice through proper legal channels while rejecting social intolerance. He urged educators to protect students and parents to guide their children responsibly.

The adviser called for cooperation between Bengali and hill populations to maintain regional harmony. Festival celebrations for Durga Puja and Prabarana Purnima require collective peaceful efforts from all groups. Deputy Commissioner ABM Iftekharul Islam Khondakar led the session with Hill District Council Chairperson Shefalika Tripura and other officials attending. Community representatives condemned the Mahajan Para incident while demanding severe punishment for perpetrators.
