Chakwera tasks VP Usi with Malawi's mission at Zimbabwe summit

Vice President Michael Bizwick Usi will travel to Zimbabwe on behalf of President Lazarus Chakwera. The delegation represents Malawi at the wetlands conservation conference scheduled for July 24. Victoria Falls hosts the fifteenth Ramsar Convention gathering focused on wetland protection. Environmental leaders from multiple nations will discuss sustainable ecosystem management strategies. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed these arrangements through an official statement.

Usi departs from Kamuzu International Airport on Tuesday morning at 10:30. His return flight arrives Friday afternoon at 3:00 PM after completing the diplomatic mission. The conference theme centers on protecting wetlands for future generations worldwide. Malawi became a convention member in 1994 when officials ratified the international agreement. Wetlands provide essential services like water cleaning and biodiversity support for communities.

The government demonstrates continued environmental commitment through this participation. Climate change threatens natural ecosystems across the region and requires coordinated responses. International cooperation helps secure funding and technical assistance for conservation projects. Regional partnerships strengthen protection efforts for shared water resources between neighboring countries.
