Chelsea wrapped up their deal for Jamie Gittens after paying Borussia Dortmund a massive 48.5 million pounds. The London club could pay another 3.5 million pounds later if certain targets are met. The 20-year-old winger put his signature on a seven-year contract at Stamford Bridge. Gittens moved from Manchester City to the German team back during 2020. The England Under-21 star has delivered solid performances across 107 matches for Dortmund.

The young forward found the net 17 times and set up 14 goals during his time with the German giants. Chelsea have already brought several new faces to their squad this summer transfer window. Liam Delap arrived from Ipswich Town as their latest striker addition. Joao Pedro joined from Brighton as another attacking option for the team. Dario Essugo came from Sporting as a midfielder and Mamadou Sarr signed from Strasbourg as a defender.

Gittens cannot feature for his new team until the Club World Cup tournament ends. The player expressed his excitement about joining such a prestigious football club. Dortmund sporting director Sebastien Kehl admitted the negotiations proved difficult but both sides reached a satisfactory agreement. Kehl praised Gittens as an exceptional talent who brought joy to their supporters. The German club wishes their former player success at his new home.
