Senior Chief Mabulabo from Mzimba called out village heads for ghosting child marriage cases in their areas, and he threatened to yank their titles if they keep dropping the ball. The leaders got summoned after ignoring reports around Bumbunyika School, Kaufipa School, and Tigawanenge School near Emfeni in the Levi Jere zone, and some communities had to cough up fines as punishment.
The chief said traditional leaders need to actually protect kids instead of letting girls get pushed into early marriages that wreck their education. He told them anyone refusing to enforce the rules has no business running a village, and activists are backing his hard-line approach during the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign.
