Chikurubi escape artist Elijah Vumbunu buys a farm with your cash

The Vumbunu brothers Abraham and Elijah lived like kings after stealing millions from Zimbabwe. Police caught them last Saturday at a fancy farm called Orange Farm in South Africa. These two men pulled off the biggest bank heist Zimbabwe has ever seen when they robbed Ecobank of four million dollars last October. Elijah ran the whole operation and made his money look legal through his trucking company. He bought expensive houses and lived in the best neighborhoods money could buy.

Elijah sold some of his properties to purchase the South African farm where authorities finally tracked him down. The National Prosecuting Authority asked their South African partners to help catch these criminals. Police discovered the brothers had spent their stolen cash on farms and houses in remote areas. They also bought expensive cars and trucks that haul goods across the region. Officials are working to bring both men back to Zimbabwe to face justice.

This robbery shocked the entire nation and became one of the most daring crimes in the country's history. Interpol helped hunt down all six people involved in the heist. The gang lived in South Africa and only crossed into Zimbabwe when they planned major robberies. Elijah had already spent time in prison for stealing 40 million dollars in Mutare back in 2003. He also helped organize a jailbreak at Chikurubi Maximum Prison in 2005.
