A simple disagreement over change spiraled into a fatal confrontation between two 28-year-old men in Chinhoyi. Moreblessing Sekerani, a local shop owner, found himself in a violent struggle with Jimmy Makiwa after a dispute about a grocery and beer purchase change.
Makiwa returned to the shop demanding more money back and became angry when told he would receive only 50 cents. Frustrated, he started destroying shop property, which prompted Sekerani to close up. The situation escalated when Makiwa followed Sekerani, throwing stones and pursuing him.
