Chinono calls out MPs on Zanu PF land deals

Journalist Hopewell Chin'ono has named several Citizens Coalition for Change MPs who allegedly received free land from President Mnangagwa's government. He claims these opposition politicians got residential stands for blocking impeachment attempts against the president. The growing list includes Richard Tsvangirai, son of former opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai, plus ten other CCC representatives.

The latest names include Thokozani Khupe, Ottilia Sibanda, Richard Tsvangirayi, Kucaca Phulu, and Vincent Sihlabo. Previously identified MPs were Bridget Nyandoro, Nonhlanhla Mlotswa, Sengezo Tshabangu, Charles Moyo, and Julia Makuwire. MP Caston Matewu reportedly turned down the offer despite attending a Wednesday meeting at the Mabelreign District Office with fellow MPs.

Local Government Minister Daniel Garwe allegedly handed out 1,000-square-metre plots in premium Harare locations like Westgate, Marlborough, Borrowdale Central, Greystone Park, and Nyabira. The land sits on protected greenways—natural areas meant for environmental protection. These spaces help manage urban flooding, reduce heat, protect wildlife, and provide recreation areas. Chin'ono promised additional names as his investigation continues.
