Chisoko calls for media policy talks

A government official has urged expanded discussions on the recently launched Zimbabwe Media Policy. George Chisoko, the Director of Media Services, stated that the entire nation, not just journalists, should comprehend the policy's contents. He recommended holding further interactive sessions to explain the document, which he noted is currently not widely understood by the public.

The policy, approved by Cabinet, aims to transform the national media landscape by promoting its viability and sustainability. Its key objectives include enhancing the country's image and sovereignty while fostering a robust digital economy and a diverse media industry.

The framework also focuses on developing modern infrastructure and professionalism. It intends to establish a comprehensive code of ethics to elevate media standards across the nation and to cultivate shared national values.
