Chivayo Blasts Critics Over Hospital Snub

Zimbabwe businessman Wicknell Chivayo defended giving cars to church members instead of helping hospitals. A social media user asked why he publicizes these gifts despite public hospitals lacking basic medication such as painkillers. Chivayo replied that he does not work for the Ministry of Health and has no obligation to supply medication or fix hospitals. He stated he spends his money however he wants and suggested the critics donate their money if they care about hospitals. He mentioned that many of his donations happen privately, and not all appear on social media.

The comments sparked debate among Zimbabweans online. Some users agreed with Chivayo that one person cannot solve national health problems. Others warned he might need those same struggling hospitals someday. Several supporters felt critics should not tell wealthy people how to use their money. Many reminded everyone that healthcare remains a government responsibility.
