Chivayo gifts Scottland FC US$250k after title win

Businessman Wicknell Chivayo presented Scottland FC with $250,000 after the club won the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League championship during its first season in the top division. The entrepreneur announced the reward through social media on Saturday, calling the achievement remarkable and noting that only Black Rhinos in 1984 had previously captured the title as a newly promoted side. Chivayo invited team leadership to meet him personally and collect funds for distribution among players, coaching staff and technical personnel.

The sponsor praised Scott Sakupwanya, the Mabvuku representative in parliament, who founded the club, for delivering on promises made to supporters. Chivayo pledged continued financial backing to help recruit young talent and maintain competitive strength. He joked about potential signings of international stars like Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland as the squad develops.

The championship represents a significant milestone for Scottland FC, which rose from neighborhood origins to claim national honors in a single campaign. Communities throughout Mabvuku celebrated the accomplishment, viewing it as validation of local football development efforts.
