Vice President Constantino Chiwenga has reaffirmed the government's commitment to strengthening its strategic partnership with China, emphasizing the importance of mutually beneficial investments. During a visit to the Zhongjin Heli Energy Power Station in Matabeleland North Province, he praised the company's role in Zimbabwe's energy and mining sectors. He also addressed a local water dispute involving the company and the Diki Village Community, calling it a failure in community consultation.
The Vice President stated that all investors must fully comply with national laws, respect environmental regulations, and safeguard community welfare. He described corporate social responsibility as a mandatory duty, not an option, urging companies to contribute to local infrastructure, employment, and public services. He specifically directed mining and energy firms to assist with road and rail rehabilitation.
