City Hall Way Closed for Safari Rally Opening

Nairobi streets will change next week because of car racing events. Governor Johnson Sakaja told everyone that City Hall Way must close for three days. Nobody can drive there from Monday night until Thursday afternoon. The road connects the City Hall Roundabout with the Parliament Roundabout.

The famous WRC Safari Rally needs this space for opening events. Officials will start blocking traffic on March 17 at 8 p.m. Regular driving can resume on March 20 after 3 p.m. Anyone traveling near downtown should plan different routes during these times.

Drivers must listen to police officers directing traffic. The county wants everyone ready with backup plans to avoid delays. Safari Rally races happen across three counties from March 20 until March 23. New racing areas include Morendat Farm plus Camp Moran.

Rally planners changed several traditional race sections this year. They moved the practice area from Loldia to Sleeping Warrior. The popular Kedong track shrank to half its former length. Organizers want fans to know exactly where they can watch safely.

WRC Kenya created more places for fans to meet drivers. A special rally village welcomes visitors during all four days. Race fans can see cars up close throughout the entire route. The first practice runs, covering five kilometers, starting March 19.

President William Ruto will officially start everything at KICC in Nairobi. The ceremony will happen Thursday morning at 11:26. Races begin right after at Kasarani and continue at Mzabibu. Friday brings action around the Naivasha area.

Saturday moves the competition to the Sleeping Warrior track. The final day starts with the 18.33-kilometer Oserengoni race. Everything wraps up at Hell's Gate, where drivers cover 10.53 kilometers. Winners receive trophies during the awards ceremony at 3:30 that afternoon.
