Commission Snatches Hiring Power to Kill Corruption

The Local Government Service Commission decided to take control of hiring three types of workers. These jobs are Disease Control Surveillance Assistants, Hospital Attendants, and Statistical Clerks. District Council Human Resource Officers faced accusations of taking money from job seekers. People said these officers demanded payments before putting names on shortlists. The commission wants to rebuild trust after these corruption claims.

The Anti-Corruption Bureau stopped interviews that were planned for May 24, 2025. Officials worked out a deal to restart the process. New interview dates were set for May 31 and June 1, 2025. Edward Talota leads the commission as Executive Secretary. He told all District Commissioners about the new centralized approach.

The commission believes this change will restore public faith in fair hiring. Anti-corruption investigators can continue their work without interference. Merit will determine who gets these government jobs. The most qualified people should win positions based on their skills. This prevents corrupt practices from affecting the selection process.
