Congress defends Pitroda as BJP fumes over Pakistan comment

Sam Pitroda sparked controversy by describing Pakistan as feeling like home during his visit there. The Indian Overseas Congress chief emphasized cultural similarities between the nations and advocated for peaceful neighborhood relations. BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain criticized these statements and questioned Congress party intentions. The ruling party accused Congress of repeatedly showing sympathy toward Pakistan.

Congress leaders rushed to defend Pitroda's position. Spokesperson Surendra Rajput pointed out BJP's acceptance of cricket matches with Pakistan while Congress MP Manoj Kumar characterized the remarks as personal opinions. Kumar noted Pakistan's historical connection to India before partition. The Samajwadi Party distanced itself from these statements with spokesperson Mohammad Azam declaring Pakistan an enemy.

Pitroda had described feeling comfortable in Pakistan due to shared appearance, language, music preferences, and cuisine. His broader message promoted stronger diplomatic ties with neighboring countries despite existing tensions.
