Consul Wife Jailed Over Toddler Murder Mystery

The wife of Zimbabwe's Honorary Consul stays in jail after her Tuesday court date about her dead toddler. Jolin Kanoheri Rugari first went behind bars on April 11 for allegedly killing her two-year-old son Rugari Nganwa. Her maid Robinah Nabanjja also faces charges as someone who helped after the crime. Their case was paused because no government lawyer showed up, forcing both women back to prison until June 5.

Police say Kanoheri killed her little boy between April 1 and 2 at their Mutungo home with clear plans to harm him. The mom first told officers her son fell from an upstairs window, but later checks found this story false. Kanoheri cannot enter a plea since murder cases must go to a higher court for trial. She claims she did nothing wrong. Her family believes police arrested the wrong person and wants the real story to come out.
