A recall has been issued for over 900,000 bottles of Kirkland Signature Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG due to a safety hazard. The importer, F&F Fine Wines International Inc., which operates as Ethica Wines, initiated the action following multiple incidents where the bottles shattered unexpectedly. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission confirmed the glass poses a laceration risk.
The affected bottles, identifiable by their green glass, purple foil, and purple label, were sold at Costco for approximately eight dollars each. They were available in twelve Midwestern states from April through August. Consumers are instructed to immediately dispose of the wine and contact Ethica Wines for a full refund.
This safety notice follows a previous warning letter from Costco sent in September. The recall is one of several the retailer has conducted this year.
