Councillor found dead with husband in suspected murder-suicide

Trinidad and Tobago authorities investigating the deaths of local government councillor Romona Victor and her husband, Rodney Ramsumair, have recovered a handwritten message and a herbicide container from their Siparia residence. The 36-year-old United National Congress representative and her 45-year-old spouse were discovered lifeless in their bedroom after Victor's father arrived to deliver garden produce and received no response to his calls.

Francis Victor recalled the devastating moment of finding his daughter's covered form, describing an image no parent should endure. The couple's marital troubles were known to relatives, though Victor's mother never anticipated such a tragic outcome when she last visited them days earlier. Investigators seized two mobile devices and an iPad while preparing autopsy examinations to confirm the cause of death.

Opposition Leader Pennelope Beckles offered sympathies to the bereaved family and the couple's young son, noting that loss transcends partisan divides. Detectives continue analyzing evidence from what appears to be a murder-suicide case.
