Couple hid RM3.1M ganja empire inside fake cashew nut packages

Cops smashed a major drug ring when they nabbed a married couple cruising around Kuala Krai in their Proton X70 last Friday afternoon. The duo had been stuffing massive amounts of cannabis into innocent-looking cashew nut containers while running their scheme for more than twelve months. Officers spotted the suspicious pair driving along Jalan Padang Sembilan around 4pm and decided to pull them over for a closer look. Police discovered 110 plastic bags crammed with 60.8 kilograms of premium ganja buds plus another 6.95 kilograms of compressed marijuana. The haul also included 150 dangerous yaba tablets worth millions on the street.

Investigators rushed to the couple's residence in Selising and uncovered another 22 kilograms of compressed cannabis stashed inside their home. The 31-year-old woman operates a chicken processing business while her 49-year-old husband works as a ride-hailing driver for extra income. Both suspects had been using their legitimate companies as perfect cover stories for their illegal drug trafficking operations. The male tested positive for narcotics while his wife came back clean during police screening procedures. Authorities seized cash, expensive jewelry, and other valuables bringing the total bust value to RM3.1 million.

Kelantan police chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat believes the syndicate connects to international smuggling networks that supply overseas markets. The premium cannabis buds command much higher prices than regular marijuana leaves making the operation extremely profitable. Both criminals have previous drug convictions and remain locked up for seven days while investigators dig deeper. Police suspect links between the case and a massive yaba seizure from June involving 35.4 kilograms of pills.
