Courtois says Real need to crank up speed

Real Madrid keeper Thibaut Courtois spoke about facing Pachuca before the Club World Cup match. The Belgian said the Mexican team plays tough defense and gave them trouble last December. He expects another difficult game but believes Madrid must win and repeat their strong second half performance against Al Hilal. Courtois said the team ignores criticism from Spanish media. The players focus on what coach Xabi Alonso teaches them during video sessions.

Courtois praised Alonso for having a unique coaching approach. He said every manager brings different ideas and methods to the team. The goalkeeper wants to learn everything possible from the new coach and apply those lessons during matches. Courtois believes the squad has strong mental power and everyone wants to win badly. The team needs to play faster and follow the game plan perfectly.

The keeper talked about different playing styles across continents. He said South American teams perform beautifully and deserve respect from European clubs. Courtois mentioned the hot weather makes keeping a high pace harder for players. He noted the team can make five substitutions if anyone gets tired during the match.

Madrid drew their opening game and must win against Pachuca to reach first place. Courtois said this pressure always exists at the club. He expressed happiness about staying at Real Madrid for many more years. The goalkeeper confirmed he wants to remain with the team as long as they want him there.
