Crash Claims Kombai at Zimbabwe Open Shocks Golfers

A car crash killed Zimbabwe golfer Morton Kombai on Sunday as athletes traveled home from the Zimbabwe Open Golf Tournament near Harare. Malawian player Victor Kachepatsonga and Ghanaian Lucky Ayiswere remain at Kensington Clinic with serious injuries. Two other players, Tonderai Masunga and Biggie Chibvuri, suffered minor harm, but doctors released them already. Sport Minister Anslem Sanyatwe met with hurt players today to show support.

The minister offered sympathy to Kombai's family during his hospital visit. He wished for fast healing for everyone hurt in the accident. Golf players across southern Africa expressed sadness about the crash. The accident cast a shadow over what had been a successful tournament. Police continue looking into what caused the deadly crash on the main road from Harare.
