CS Ruku makes surprise Nairobi Huduma Centre visits, vows strict merit hiring

Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku conducted unscheduled inspections at GPO and Eastleigh Huduma Centres on Friday. The Public Service minister evaluated frontline operations and engaged directly with government workers during these visits. Staff members received praise for maintaining professional standards while managing limited resources. Ruku emphasized that future hiring and advancement decisions must reflect individual merit rather than other considerations. The minister reinforced constitutional requirements for transparency and accountability within government operations.

Ruku reminded public officers that their roles represent service obligations rather than personal privileges. The cabinet secretary pledged continued surprise evaluations to strengthen performance standards across government facilities. His ministry advances the Huduma Smart Serikalini program to enhance citizen access to government services. This initiative aims to rebuild public confidence through improved efficiency and responsiveness. Ruku recognized dedicated employees who exceed standard expectations in serving Kenyan citizens.
