Customs Chief and NDLEA Team Up to Crush Drug Rings

Customs boss Bashir Adeniyi wants his officers to work closer with drug agencies across Nigeria. He visited Ogun state Wednesday and talked about stopping illegal drug imports at the borders. The chief said Customs teams up with NDLEA and NAFDAC to catch more criminals. Three agencies destroyed over 200 containers of dangerous drugs already. Working together helps stop these medicines from reaching bad people.

Adeniyi told border guards to make friends with local people who know the area well. Community members share important information about smugglers and their routes. The chief praised Governor Dapo Abiodun for making Ogun state a business center. Customs officers will help the state grow its economy and create more jobs. Local commander Bisi Alade welcomed the visit and promised to keep fighting crime.

Officers face many problems doing their jobs every day around the borders. They need more vehicles to chase smugglers and better laboratory equipment to test drugs. The command wants solar lights, water wells, and paved roads for officer housing. Staff housing projects move too slowly and revenue transfers from other commands take too long. These delays make it harder to protect Nigeria from illegal drug trafficking.
