George Municipality has secured a fresh governing arrangement after the Democratic Alliance partnered with the Freedom Front Plus and African Christian Democratic Party to maintain administrative control. The realignment became necessary when three DA ward councillors departed to join the Patriotic Alliance in late October, eliminating the party's working majority and forcing rapid coalition negotiations.
Bowman Johnson assumed mayoral responsibilities during a council session that formalized the partnership, while Jackie von Brandis accepted the whip position.
