President Mnangagwa has declared a state of disaster after a crash killed ten people. The accident happened on the Harare to Nyamapanda road when a Honda Fit collided head-on with a truck. All ten occupants of the smaller vehicle died at the scene near Suswe.
Acting Minister Felix Mhona stated the government will provide support for funerals and other needs. Preliminary reports indicate the Honda Fit crossed into the opposite lane. The four people in the haulage truck survived.
Mhona linked the tragedy to illegal transport operations and reckless driving, pledging stricter enforcement of road laws. He called for all road users to exercise greater caution to prevent further loss of life.
