The Ministry of Finance, Economic Development, and Investment Promotion is advancing a comprehensive Tax Reform and Modernisation Agenda. Deputy Minister David Kudakwashe Mnangagwa stated the government aims to create an efficient and transparent tax system that fosters business growth and national prosperity. He emphasized that tax compliance is a patriotic duty essential for funding development.
Mnangagwa made these remarks at a Zimbabwe Revenue Authority ceremony honoring compliant taxpayers. He connected their contributions to achieving national goals like Vision 2030, stating that domestic resource mobilization is crucial for self-reliant development. The Deputy Minister also condemned smuggling and tax evasion as crimes detrimental to the nation.
Zimra Board Chairperson Anthony Mandiwanza outlined new anti-smuggling measures, including drone surveillance, and the rollout of a modern Tax and Revenue Management System. He explained that these digital initiatives are designed to simplify compliance and expand the tax base through improved efficiency and service.
