Victoria Falls flex, David Mnangagwa chases $88bn tax leaks

Zimbabwe strengthened its position as a regional leader in tax reform by hosting the Global Forum on Transparency conference in Victoria Falls. Deputy Minister David Mnangagwa addressed international tax authorities about the country's progress toward building modern financial systems. The nation has completed several major reforms by signing international tax cooperation agreements and joining African tax administration networks. Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube received recognition as the African Exchange of Information Ambassador for his leadership efforts. These changes reflect Zimbabwe's goal to reduce dependence on foreign aid through better domestic revenue collection.

African countries lose approximately 88 billion dollars annually through illegal financial transfers that should fund public services. Mnangagwa emphasized how these losses drain resources from essential government programs across the continent. Zimbabwe continues to develop frameworks for transparent business ownership while preparing automatic information exchange systems. The deputy minister called for sustained international support to help developing nations implement effective tax policies. Global cooperation remains essential for combating tax evasion and building fair financial systems worldwide.
