Bulawayo-Victoria Falls road project boosts jobs, drives growth

The Bulawayo-Victoria Falls Road rehab project has employed over 800 people, with more than 80 percent coming from nearby towns and villages along the route. Minister Richard Moyo and Engineer Joy Makumbe from the Transport Ministry said contractors are hitting their deadlines, and the quality looks solid. Village Head Joseph Moyo from Bernice said the work has basically revived his area.

Workers are picking up new construction skills while earning steady paychecks, and contractors confirmed they're mostly hiring locals except when they need specialized expertise. The highway connects South Africa through Beitbridge up to Zambia via Victoria Falls and Kazungula, and some finished sections are already open for traffic.
