Upgraded Bulawayo–Victoria Falls road section opens in Hwange

Zimbabwe has completed rehabilitation of a 3.6-kilometer section along the Bulawayo to Victoria Falls Highway in Hwange as part of nationwide infrastructure modernization efforts under the Emergency Road Rehabilitation Programme. Bitumen World finished construction on Friday through a contract covering 32 kilometers of the route, with 14 kilometers now complete and an additional 10 kilometers scheduled for delivery before year-end.

Construction engineer Peace Takudzwa Harare stated that eight contractors are simultaneously working to finish all 440 kilometers connecting the two cities within 10 months. Each toll plaza will receive weighbridge installations to prevent overloaded vehicles from damaging newly surfaced roads, while contractors are reusing original materials to minimize environmental impact on forests and wildlife habitats in the region.
