DCAB honors top diplomatic reporters in Bangladesh

The Diplomatic Correspondents Association of Bangladesh handed out its media awards for this year. Foreign Secretary Asad Alam Siam and jury head Reaz Ahmad, an editor at Dhaka Tribune, gave prizes in print, television, and online categories. Winners included Md Mahfuzur Rahman from Jamuna Television, Md Arifuzzaman Mamun from Daily Amader Shomoy, and Apurba Kumar PK from Sarabangla.net. The foreign secretary honored four other DCAB writers for publishing recent books, naming Masud Karim, Rased Mehedi, Israt Zahan Urmi, and Nahid Hossain.

Speaking at the Foreign Service Academy event, the secretary said global challenges make diplomatic reporters more crucial than ever. He hoped they would keep playing a constructive role in foreign policy discussions. DCAB President AKM Moinuddin and General Secretary Md Arifuzzaman Mamun also addressed the ceremony. Reaz Ahmad stated that Bangladesh's diplomatic journalists operate with a national interest first mindset, producing work he called superior to that of neighboring countries. Judges evaluated entries based on topic relevance, sourcing, language, structure, and original research. This was the second edition of the award.
