Zimbabwe did something very important for human rights. They stopped the death penalty forever. Mr. Ziyambi, who helps make laws in Zimbabwe, told people about this at a big meeting in Switzerland yesterday.
Mr. Ziyambi said they made a new law on December 31, 2024. This law says nobody can be killed as punishment for crimes anymore. He said, "The right to live matters most of all human rights. This makes our courts better and shows we respect all human life."
The new law takes away all parts that talked about killing people for crimes. People who were waiting to be killed will have new punishments instead. They might go to jail for 20 years or their whole life, depending on what they did.
Zimbabwe made other positive changes to help people. It put courts in more places around the country and created a new computer system to help judges work faster. Mr. Ziyambi said, "We want everyone to find justice easily and quickly."
The country faces hard times because of very dry weather. The government helps farmers with machines and water systems. Zimbabwe grew enough wheat for everyone in the country. They even won a prize in Africa for growing food well.
