Decades later, CHT peace stalled by unresolved land disputes

Supradip Chakma addressed the tenth assembly of the CHT Peace Accord Implementation and Monitoring Committee at Rangamati Development Board Rest House. The CHT Affairs Adviser expressed the Interim Government's commitment to achieving lasting peace through collaborative efforts. He emphasized that sustainable development requires all parties to work together on accord implementation.

Committee members discussed progress reports and reviewed various treaty provisions during the session. The interim administration has made peace accord implementation a top priority since reconstituting the monitoring body. Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain and regional leaders participated in the discussions.

Participants acknowledged that fundamental issues remain unresolved before complete peace can emerge in the hill regions. Speakers highlighted the necessity of addressing land disputes and establishing clear action plans. The committee agreed to begin immediate operations and maintain regular oversight of implementation activities.
